Number of population in Padang Pariaman Regency of year 2007 had recorded as many as 387.452 people, with 186.058 male and 201.394 female, but last year recorded as many as 384.718 people ( 183.926 male and 200.792 female). And the population density was 292 people / Km 2. The district which have a large-part of population is the district of Batang Anai, That is 43.890 people and Padang Sago district was the districts which have less population, that is 8.247 people.

And number of worker in Padang Pariaman Regency as many as 142.222 worker, which consist of 83.836 male worker and 58.386 female worker. By education level of worker as many as 45.173 worker didn’t complete Primary Schools, as many as 36.760 worker had complete the Primary Schools and as many as 6.749 worker has education level above high schools
(Academy/University).

Seen from welfare level of family according to data from Demography, Civil Affairs and Family Panning Service, as many as 10.118 family has been in not secure and prosperous level yet, as many as 21.663 family at First Level of Prosperous, as many as 28.287 family at Second Level of Prosperous, as many as 25.382 at Third Level of Prosperous and as many as 1.443 family at above of Third Level.

LDII Deploy Staff and Volunteer for Padang Earthquake

Quick Emergency Response Team have been formed after Earthquake with magnitude 7.6 MW Ricther Scale at West Sumatera. DPP LDII deploy 100′s staff and volunteer from Jakarta, Lampung, Dumai, Pekanbaru and surrounding areas to help killed and injured people from Padang Earthquake.

The center of relief operation have been established at center of the city, at Masjid Miftahul Huda, Jl. Bhakti abri Kota Panjang Ikua Koto. The center have been used as shelter, logistic center for medical supply, food, clean water and mobilization center despite two other branch have been used as shelter and emergency health-care unit. The team would figure out the condition, situation, and basic needs as emergency response and relief.

The death toll continues to mount as the full scale of the disaster unfolds. According to Indonesian authorities, 1000 people are confirmed dead and 1400 are seriously injured. These numbers are expected to rise as thousands are feared to be trapped under the rubble of collapsed buildings. In Padang city alone, more than 500 buildings are reported to have collapsed including schools, hospitals and hotels.

Padang is the capital of West Sumatra. It has several houses built in traditional architecture, including Padang Museum, which houses objects of cultural and historical interest. Its beach on Bungus bay with its white sands is good for swimming, boating or just watching the fishing boats going out to sea in the afternoon. Small boats can be hired from here to some small islands nearby: Sirandah, Sikoai, Pagang, Parsumpahan.

Padang is a prosperous city and major ports, which has retained the atmosphere of a market town. It is the third largest city of Sumatera with a population of more than 300,000. South of Padang, the massive Kerinci-Strait, Nature Reserve is Indonesia’s largest national parks sprawls across a 345 sq km stretch of Jungle Mountain dominated by the volcanic core of Mount Kerinci, which is Sumatra’s highest mountain. Padang has some pretty beaches. The most popular ones are located south of Padang. The beaches are good for swimming, boating or just watching fishing boats going out in the afternoon.
